Beautiful Nkimadams !

En picorant dans les innombrables collages de FlickR, on peut découvrir les oeuvres prolifiques d'un papy assez extraordinaire, ex prof de musique retraité, devenu sur le tard photographe, illustrateur et collagiste...(inégal, il faut l'avouer : cette sélection ayant été faite sur le passage en revue de près d'une centaine de collages, dont certains un peu faciles).
Ses emprunts à l'iconographie classique ou religieuse, mêlés à des images animalières, des figures plus abstraites, ou issues d'un panthéon polythéiste plus ancien, forment une imagerie trouble, qui m'évoque (pour certains) les Mystères, ces cultes initiatiques antiques et secrets. Autre chose qui séduit dans le travail de Nkimadams : l'art avec lequel il exploite la magnificence des couleurs de la peinture classique et les contrastes de lumière.


An old man with time to read and think. A retired music teacher with 36 years spent in the public schools. A pianist who still plays all of Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, and Schumann. A poet, a writer of prose, a Jungian who still reads Freud, an admirer of Thoreau and Twain. Most of my internet writing is on the life and works of Edgar Rice Burroughs.
I come from a family of artists but only began doing my own graphic work in 1995 six years before my retirement. I studied pen and ink drawing for 6 years, then did a couple of years of watercolors, then since 2003 have been bitten by the big bad collage bug. Flickr kind of keeps me going -- all the nice comments from interested and interesting artists. I basically developed my own style that I think is recognizable as art by nkimadams.
